West Albuquerque Back Pain

Recommendations to Help Prevent Back Pain, Backache, Lumbago, Back Trouble, Bad Back, Sciatica, Slipped Disk

Some back pain is caused by non-preventable factors (traumatic accidents, congenital defects, tumors), but most low back pain is foreseeable. Suggestions on how you can reduce back pain include:

• Follow a healthy diet.

• Stay active.

• Avoid prolonged inactivity or bed rest.

• Warm up or stretch before exercising or other physical activities.

• Maintain proper posture.

• Wear comfortable, low-heeled shoes.

• Sleep on a mattress of medium firmness to minimize any curve in your spine.

• Lift with your knees, keep the object close to your body, and do not turn when lifting.

• Stop smoking. Smoking prevents blood flow, resulting in oxygen and nutrient deprivation to spinal tissues.

• Have your posture professionally evaluated by your chiropractor and be sure to include a program of spinal correction and scheduled maintenance.
